60TH YEAR FACILITATION FOR AN AUTHOR
60th year,friends
AN
Affectionate function on my entering into sixtieth year, some of my scholar friends, my instituion sceretery and collegues, students and collegues wished to celebrate it as a public function, despite my opposition. But they didn't listen to me at all.My contribution of over 60 books to the field of litereture and education, popularity and uniqueness of my research works in folklore and jainism made them feel proud of celebrating it. They also decided to publish a facilitation volume in connection with the function. Two scolors from Karnataka University Dharwad,took up the responsibility of editing the facilitation volume. Within three months, they got the articles written, edited them neatly, and got the whole lot printed very neatly. They kept the whole process out of my sight, except for asking me an an autobiographical article.i could not stop them.
In india, there is a custom to celebrate the birthdays of people when they reach 60th, 70, 75th, and 80 years ( and later 100 years, if the person lives till then) as these stages are concidered 'crucial' in the life span of a person. if the person has done some achievement in any field, then that will be celebrated publicly. if he has some followers. I am fortunate enough to have some such affectionate people in my students and friendds group.
A facilitation volume in Kannada language was ready. They named it 'SATHWA' -meaning 'essence'. A grand function was arranged on 17-3-2009 at Tumkur, 70 k.ms away from bangalore, the disrtict head quarters where i am working as the principal of a teacher training college.
